St. Anne Shrine

St. Anne is the patroness of St. Anne’s parish. She is honoured as the mother of Mary, and the grandmother of Jesus. Her husband was St. Joachim.

The shrine was completed under the guidance of Fr. John Mulvaney and was opened and blessed by Bishop Murphy on 5th July 1953.

St. Anne is the patron saint of housewives and grandparents. Her feast day is celebrated on 26th July.

St. Thérése of the Child Jesus

St. Thérése of the Child Jesus was a Carmelite sister also called St. Thérése of Lisieux and the “Little Flower”. Pope Pius XI canonized her in 1925, less than 30 years after her death. In 1927 she was named the patroness of all foreign missions.

This shrine was completed and blessed on 5th October 1953 by Fr Michael Fitzsimmons OMI. The congregation of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate is and always was an order of the missionary priests.
