The Tabernacle Throne

The Tabernacle is a liturgical furnishing where the Eucharist is stored outside of Holy Mass. The Tabernacle in St. Anne’s is an Alabaster tabernacle with altar, cross, throne, and Tabernacle door. It was designed and completed by Hardman & Co. The door is set with rock crystals.

Images on the Tabernacle

Above the Tabernacle on the main altar is a Pelican feeding her nestling with its own blood. This symbolizes Christ’s blood shed for mankind and the Eucharist.

Below the Pelican image at the front of the Tabernacle is the word, SANCTUS, which means HOLY.

On the right hand and left hand sides of the Tabernacle are images of the sacrifices of Abraham (Genesis 22:1-12), and Melchizedek to whom priesthood is attributed (Genesis 14:18-20). Both images represent the Holy Eucharist.
